CIRKISS

Original. Up in the air. Cold stare. Rare pair.

Bonjour Boys and Girls,

I’m always hyped when I get to release another chart because it is packed with some great music and from what I have heard when I am out on the town or at a gig is that you all are looking forward to it. So since the last chart there has been some incredible music released in preparation for the summer. Yeah I know, I can’t believe that we are close to summer. That just means that we got to go all out for the rest of the school year. So here are some Fresh Cuts to be the soundtrack of your crazy weekend, soak it in.

Random Fact:Donald Duck’s middle name is Fauntleroy.

This Day in History: (1976)-Apple Computer Company released the Apple I, their first personal computer.

Peace. Love. Harmony.

Gorillaz Remembered:

Gorillaz “DARE”

GORILLAZ HAVE BROKEN UP! This is very bad news to all those fans of the best animated group ever. They have had a huge run ever since Clint Eastwood came out back when I was playing soccer in Junior High. This beat is one of their more uptemo shake and boogie productions. If you have never heard albums from the Gorillaz you really need to get any of their first 3 and see what they are all about. R.I.P. Gorillaz, I hope you resurrect soon.

Classic Banger:

Young Buck “Get Buck”

Get ‘em Buck! When I was a young, skimpy, big headed lad in band I would wail on my trombone like a bo$$. I tell you this because when I hear the horns drop in this song I get super rowdy and commence to throw dem ‘bows like my elementary days chugging Surge soda. Young Buck has that southern slang and put together a banger that will max out my speakers anywhere. Take this track, throw it up in your old school jacked up low rider with spinners and watch attention and the opposite sex flock to you like the Salmon of Capastrano.

East Coast Anthem:

50 Cent Feat. Mobb Deep “Outta Control (Remix)”

Even to this day, when I hear this song I start groovin’. This track was the point that put Mobb Deep back on the map after their early 90’s dominance. 50 cent was burning up the music world with his string of hits and his movie that showed it is possible to flip crack, get shot, start rapping, and make it big. Dr. Dre made the beat but these New York Emcees combined to make a necessary track for every East Coast party. You know I got what it takes to make the club go Outta Control.

Tha Hang 10 Heater:

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis “Victory Lap”

If you haven’t heard of these two yet you need to write it on your binder because they are going to blow up. They were named to XXL Magazine’s Freshman Class. This beat is classic hip-hop at its finest and the video is great because it recaps their career to this point. Smooth Vibe, Natural Flow, and Kinky Trumpets make up a solid Hang 10 Heater. For anyone who’s going to graduate or finish another year take some time to do a victory lap.

Number 9:

fun. “Some Nights (Jakob Liedholm Arena Mix)”

At 15 I was trying to not get stuffed in a locker by a senior and see if I could trick a girl to kiss me at the homecoming dance. Jakob Liedholm is remixing indie songs into smashes that could make the TD Garden jump. fun. actually opened for Janelle Monae at the CCA back in the fall so you could have heard the original if you went. Don’t be surprised if you hear this one out on the scene this weekend when the dancefloor turns into magma.

Number 8:

Eric Clapton “Cocaine (No Big Deal Remix)”

When Eric Clapton was on top of the world “booger sugar” was a whole different scene because everyone had the sniffles. This remix is probably one of the best remakes I have ever heard because of the completely different genres but No Big Deal was able to put Clapton on a White Horse of an electro beat. Be Careful, “Cocaine is a hell of a drug.” R.I.P. Rick James

Number 7:

Mark Morrison “Return Of The Mack (Viceroy “Jet Life” Remix)”

The original of this song will forever be a party anthem. Period. This is a great remix that captures the feeling of a guy who was lied to and now is looking to crush some tail. Side Note: Great concept. This has more of a sunny day feel but the singer has Mark Morrison’s voice down pack. This won’t beat the original but it is a fun one to throw on and jam out to. Spit some game and be a mack already.

Number 6:

Tiesto & Wolfgang Gartner Feat. Luciana “We Own The Night”

If it was a slow week in music this track would easily be top 3 but I am a sucker for hip-hop so it will always have the advantage. Anyway, These are two grandwizards of the EDM world and they have brought in an incredible voice that makes me want to party for a straight weekend. The beat will tell you all the rest about this song better then I can so crank your speakers to 10 and Own The Night!

Number 5:

J. Cole Feat. Missy Elliott “Nobody’s Perfect”

When great hip-hop comes out I can’t help but take a deep breath and smile because I don’t want the genre to fizzle out. This track has got a soulful beat with the guitar along with the thumpin drum set to keep my head nodding from the first kick to the fade out. I remember when J. Cole came with Ludacris last year I didn’t know much about him but he is money in the bank now. This is an all around awesome song so try pumping it when you are making breakfast, doing yoga, or getting steamed up on the late night. Cole heatin’ up like that left over lasagna.

Number 4:

Gramatik “Solidified”

This Gramatik fellow is making some real deal music. He is the most recent addition to Pretty Light’s music label and he has been doing the damn thang. This one is a supercharged beat with great vocal samples woven together to really display the artists’ true talents in beat production. I hope this is the start of more to come because he sure meets his beat ;)

Number 3:

Bassnectar Feat. Jantsen “What”

VAVA VOOM! Bassnectar is back with full CD of audio gold and this is was one of the ones that stuck out instantly. Bassnectar really contacted his inner drum and bass side throughout the album and it gives a nice contrast to the heavy dub drops. He will be playing at the House of Blues in Boston on April 18th and 19th, it sold out so the only place to find tickets now is (http://www.stubhub.com/bassnectar-tickets/bassnectar-boston-house-of-blues—boston—4-18-2012-4018985/) his live shows are second to none, from what I have been told with his custom speakers that paint your ears with bass. The album is called Vava Voom and from fron to back it is very well done. Pump this one up!

Number 2:

Kendrick Lamar Feat. Dr. Dre “The Recipe”

Caution! This is not the West Coast banger that Dre normally produces but probably one of his best productions to get cloudy to. Women, Weed, and Weather is the recipe for greatness even if just one of them is good. Kendrick Lamar flips a tight verse on this jam and Dre has a voice that brings me right back to 6th grade when I first heard 2001. Throw this one on for an afternoon of getting hydrated, your flick a lighter playlist, or even on the late night rotation when you are having a horizontal one on one. Y’all motherfluffers forgot about Dre?

Top Dog:

Tyga Feat. Lil’ Wayne “Faded”

Uhhh Drink kickin’ in I’m stimulated, for those who don’t know big words I’m fluckin faded. Simplicity sells in this one like crazy. Once I heard those glasses getting tapped in the background I knew this song was going to top this week’s chart. Tyga has been killing the hip-hop scene recently and Wayne has been holding the fort down since I he was 6 months old, or whenever he started rapping and slanging dope out of his diaper. This one is the late night anthem for everyone to scoop thier love of the night up and hit the dancefloor. I’m Faded, Faded, Faded.
